Our innate human ability to imagine, to conjure up, to create various scenarios with our minds, in our minds, realities that may never exist in our “real concrete world”, is one of our most potent human capacities. We use this skill to imagine or to create in our mind’s eye, frequently, in all aspects of our day to day life. This ability to imagine is the basis of bringing anything into reality – first we imagine it! You may often have heard the phrase “If you can imagine it, you can create it.” While that may be an overly optimistic idea, in its essence, the phrase holds truth.
The topic of “the erotic imagination” allows you to explore the relationship between your creative self, your capacity for imagination, and your sexual self; your creative energy and your sexual erotic self. This under explored inter-relationship is a source of great power and an intricate element of our capacity to experience pleasure.
The erotic imagination is a multi-facetted realm. This is an invitation to embrace and expand your innate human capacity to use your creative imagination in service of your sexual, erotic, and sensual pleasure. As well, this exploration of creative imagination can be applied to all the other elements of pleasure, you are already familiar with.
Expand the Confines of What You Relegate to the Erotic
A prime goal of the Unlock Pleasure work is to break down the narrow confines we have relegated “sex” to. By loosening the barriers between what we deem as erotic, and what is not, we expand our perception of the erotic. The terrain between the erotic realm and our day to day world is much more fluid, can become much more fluid, than we now imagine. Making the boundaries between the erotic and the mundane more fluid, is what supports your vitality, creativity and exuberance for living.

Notice How Often You Use Creative Imagination.
This can run the gamut from idle day dreaming (perhaps not so idle); it’s always interesting to notice if there is a pattern or theme to your day dreaming; to envisioning/planning your day, to fantasies of the future, and to include your more precise sexual/erotic imaginings (what we commonly refer to as sexual fantasies). No doubt you will be surprised to see just how much of your mental energy and time is engaged in the world of the imagination; how often we use this creative capacity. And I invite you to really claim these musings as your creative capacity!
Bringing all the Senses to Your Imagining
When we use of our imagination we generally think of it as a visual activity. We could say we are visualizing about something. I invite you, when you are engaged in using your creative imagination, whither in the direction of the erotic, or just in general application, to play with using all your senses. Can you bring in the smells, the sounds that would be present, would there be a taste element and the tactile sense, not just the visual? Also, be aware of how your sixth sense may come into play? What “knowing” does this more active imagination, open up in your awareness?
