Pleasure is a sensory process, experienced in the body, connected to the ability to open to the goodness of life, and let that goodness nourish and replenish us.
Pleasure is an inner state we open to, create alignment with, and surrender to. Pleasure is beyond the will and ego function - like orgasms – we can’t “make ourselves feel pleasure”; but we can prepare the conditions for it to arrive - like grace. Pleasure is an involuntary force. We can use intentionality and positive will to develop the conditions that are amenable to pleasure.
Pleasure allows us to re-orientate towards positive expectancy, and away from the “negative brain bias” that has been a significant factor in our evolutionary process.
Some of the “Hallmark of Pleasure” in include increased ease and relaxation, creativity, optimism, joy, and a feeling of being in the flow.
